Trainer Question

Postby mytrot » Tue Jan 26, 2010 10:08 pm

I admit I am a fairweather rider. I don't mind a stint on the trainer watching bad TV and I hate cleaning bikes after wet rides.

I have a Kurt Fluid that claims it is the same as an "average" road ride. Yet an hour ride at a slightly slower average seems harder on the trainer. I think part is cooling and part is no coasting!

Anyone else notice this and have ideas on the why?

Or am I just crazy......

The only time I use my trainer is if it's storming out and I just
use it to do the Spinerval workouts....not just to sit and ride which is
too boring.....now 45-60 minutes with the Spinerval tapes and you know
you have done something. Otherwise, I am outside on the weekends. If you
dress properly, the only part that gets wet is your face.

Got my training ride under the full moon last night. 24 degrees, 14 miles of packed single track, on studded tires with my mt. bike! Loving it...but can't wait to get on the skinnies!

Another 14 miles, but it seems to have been a late moon rise here in Anchorage. So just had the stars and sparkling snow to show me the way. Had to use head lamp too. 22 degrees! Its a dry cold thing....not so bad if you dress for it!
