9/7/10 UPDATED GPS File - Maps and GPS Files

Postby leisure1 » Wed Jul 14, 2010 11:51 am

9/7/10 - The final GPS files are updated on our website this morning. Note that there is an alternate route for day 5. There is a very slight chance that a paving project will force a route change that day and CO won’t be able to make the decision for a couple of days yet which route to take.
8/30/10 - MAPS UPDATED WITH REST STOPS AND DAY 5 CHANGE
I have posted the maps and GPS files for both the Weekend Ride and the September ride on our website
I can’t post a link here – so you will need to type in the address. It is a short one…
vlmk.com/links
Then select Cycle Oregon 2010 maps
There will be one more revision to the week ride maps so please remember check back again in August.
Enjoy

Just copy the vlmk.com to the address bar, then when the page opens click links then Cycle Oregon 2010. The maps are pdf files, so they may take a bit of time to open...
The voices tell the stories. I just record them for posterity.

And the voices have some good ideas sometimes!

I was able to access the info by going to www.vlmk.com. Click on the links button and scroll down to Cycle Oregon 2010 maps.

Thank you for making these available, especially the GPS track. I like to geocache along the route and this will be very helpful in planning.

Seems the GPS routes are not quite right. Check day 5. Any chance of an update?

You are right - day 5 is not quite right. The route changed the bring the ride into Pendleton from a different direction - and avoid bringing 2,500 riders directly down Main Street during the Roundup traffic jam.

Sorry - I don't have that GPS file. I create the original to make the route maps - and then the Ham Radio operators take over and tweak them with the final route changes.

If I get a copy of theirs I will try to update our website before the ride.

Can't help with the GPS file but the stops on Day 5 are Rest Stop 18.4 miles from start in Walla Walla, Water in Milton Freewater 31.2 miles, Lunch in Athena 47.4 miles, the last water stop has moved as the course into Pendleton is different than my map as well.
