MISSING PERSON

Postby riding2live » Sun Sep 18, 2011 6:20 pm

Saw on the news tonight that a Cycle Oregon rider has been missing since Riddle. Could he have departed early and not told anyone? Did he have a parking pass for long term parking and is his car still there? Just some ideas to be checked if no one thought of them. Hope he turns up OK.
Ride like the devil's behind you, becuz he is---and he/she is drivin' a car textin' on the phone.

The missing person is not a rider but a volunteer. His gear, tent and bicycle were all where they were the night before but he has not been seen since. Search and rescue is continuing the search.

http://bikeportland.org/ has a very complete story if you want some detail. I have personally have lost people to depression and I wish folks (particularly men) would ask for help when they need it. I hope Mark Bosworth is found safe.

A group of volunteers will be heading down from Portland to search tomorrow. Cycle Oregon will provide transportation and make arrangements for lodging Tuesday evening. The plan is to assist in the search from 1 PM-dark tomorrow and again from 8 AM-5 PM Tuesday returning to Portland Tuesday night. If you are interested in helping, please contact Tara Corbin @ tara@cycleoregon.com. Transportation will leave from the Sheraton at the Portland Airport.

There were 80 on Tuesday with about a 100 on Wednesday out searching. We found nothing to help us find Mark but did eliminate miles of areas where he is not. We are hoping he did hitch hike (possible) out of the area. He does not have any ID on him. We are hoping he will return to what he feels is normal and try to get back to Portland. Please download a copy of the missing person report from the Douglas County Sheriffs Office and display it around town. Perhaps someone will see him and report in. www.dcso.com Click on the missing persons link for the flyer.

Thanks
