Glad I took the leap! I went on the Red Robin Tour of Colorado in 1997. That was 430 miles and 3 passes over 11,000 ft, this course is more humane as opposed to superhuman. I love the Oregon Coast and the fact that the course is a loop. Time to do a training ride sans fenders and wearing sunglasses, that's a novelty in February.

Just received an email alert. As of mid day today, more than 2,000 have signed up already for the Week Ride. Tent and Porter is Sold Out no surprise there. Ride is slated to take 2200 and the usual waiting list is approximately 400-500 hundred which they will cut off when that fills.

amazing! I can see the day when a lottery system gets imposed for this tour. Just goes to show what quality will get you.

There has been a compressing of the time it takes CO to sell out ever since the Portland route. Hopefully they will go back to the same method in the old days were if you had ridden the year before you got to sign up early and then what was left was opened up to general public. If they go to a lottery there could be a big longterm fall out, if you start breaking up groups of friends you might loose the whole group and not just the one who missed the lottery.

I feared a 24 hour sell out this year so I was on the computer at 7:45pm. I started to get nervous when the web site crashed. Then it bounced back around 8pm and I was registered. Would like to avoid that tension in the future.

As a three-time RAGBRAI rider, the registration and lottery process is a hotly debated topic. Of course, they have a much larger ride population but the controversy boils there - every year.

Good rides bring good population. Good rides require very significant volunteer or staff coordination. From the reports, CO has all of that. :)
