Recovery (the cycling kind!)

I'm new to this distance and multi-day riding business. Following a 70-mile ride Saturday, I did an easy 30-mile ride but was quite fatigued with the second (easier) ride. I felt great Saturday with refueling during and immediately after the ride. I suspect I need to do more with post-ride recovery.

What do you do? Any tips are welcome! -CC

You say your new to the multi day and distance. It might have more to do with your approach.

I seldom get many back to back days training so my output on the first days of CO are usually a little less than I would do for a similar distance if I was not riding the next day. As the week progresses I usually improve.

As for recovery on CO I always try to make sure I have some sports drink left at the end of the ride. A good pint or so and finish it while tracking down bags and setting up my tent. Making sure you eat after helps and on CO I usually add the two A's - Alcohol and Advil! A couple good pints and a some Advil always help!
