It’s the end of June and registration remains open.
Any speculation or facts about why the ride isn’t full?

You mean besides the advertised 30,000+ feet of climbing?

I say, bring it on. :)

I think the delayed sign up slows it down. And many believe it is full and don't even check.

In past years, CO has filled beyond the number needed knowing that several hundred drop out for one reason or another during the year. That's probably where the ride stands right now. Expect at least 2100 riders in September.

Yes, the climbing alone could scare many away. After all, this is even more climbing than 2012's ride. And as anyone who didn't train enough for that one knows, this one could be more painful. But also, many familiar with the areas of this year's ride would know that it could be hot, very likely windy, and the road surfaces will be on the rough side. You might have caught an earlier newsletter suggestion of running 25's as opposed to 23's for a less jarring ride.

All this said, I signed up and I'm trying to ride and climb as much as possible between now and the end of August -- and I'll be riding 25's, same as I did in 2008.

It's going to be a tough but beautiful ride. Can't wait to help out again this year.

We will be missing some volunteers again this year as they will have retired from the ride.

Chuck and Ann's last CO will be on the Weekend Ride. If you are participating in that event, be sure to Thank them for their support. They have been the medical recovery team for more years than I can count. They will be missed.
