Long Term Parking

Something different this year. If driving, once you get to The Dalles, follow signs to Sorosis Park to drop off your bags and your bikes (roads will also be signed for Cycle Oregon). This will be a quick drop set up (drop and go). After leaving the gear in the appropriate location, you will drive the car down to long term parking. Follow the signage from the park to long term parking. Follow the volunteer instruction for parking. Place your parking permit in the window of the car and head over to the shuttle pick up area. If you still need a parking pass, they are slightly more expensive then pre-ordering them and they can be purchased on site (after parking). The bus ride back to camp is approximately 15 minutes once the bus fills.

There will be no community volunteers in long term parking to help with gear, it must be dropped off before heading to the parking area. If you choose to hold onto your bike, you can always ride up to the park from long term parking. Don't know the exact mileage but can say the park is on the ridge overlooking The Dalles and the parking lot is near the river.

Not too early. Usually with a a couple of weeks of the ride. That way, they won't be left at home.

Couple of things to know about parking. There will be 2 shuttle vans on Friday night between long term parking and the camp site (3-8 PM) if you arrive before 3, please park nose in and as close to another car as possible. If you arrive after 8, we suggest parking temporary in the neighborhood near camp and moving the car in the morning when shuttles are available.

Saturday, the parking area will have shuttles by bus. The school buses will leave when full or nearly full. (takes time to do the loop back to the lot). Best to arrive before 6 PM.

Checking to see if there will be shuttles on Sunday. If not, drop gear at the campsite and carry it to the baggage trucks. Drive down to long term parking and ride from there. Parking is near the river and will be a short ride East along the river to rejoin the course.

Shuttles will be running until 9 on Saturday evening and from 6-9 AM on Sunday. The luggage trucks pull out of camp between 8:45-9. If arriving Sunday. Get up to the start area ASAP.

When parking, place your parking pass on the dash before heading back to catch the shuttle. If you forgot it or need to purchase one, park first. The volunteer near the entrance will have additional. They will have a list of those who have purchased.
