pizza?

Postby DougB » Sat Aug 23, 2014 5:58 pm

I saw no mention of pizza this year. I like my slice of pizza with my beer when I get in early. What's up?

Indeed given that several towns do not have good appetizer options!

Pizzicato pulled out this year. Not sure the reasoning. I believe CO was working to get another food vendor in for the ride. Heard talk of Laughing Planet but I don't know for sure.

Food vendor replacing Pizzicatto is Columbia Gorge Concessions.

Well,
A quick Google search on the company's typical menu at events included items such as Beefy Cheesy Bacon Dogs, Chili Cheese Dogs, Chocolate Covered Bacon, Smoked Turkey Legs and Fried Cheese Curds, along with the usual chips and soda, etc. I'll keep an open mind, but that doesn't sound too encouraging!

What other than pizza goes good with beer?... how about gourmet burgers, brats, nachos and other tasty fuel...

hmfph. I'll reserve judgement until after next week.

I am already recalling, with much nostalgia, days long gone - when I got up with the sun and rolled into camp early, grabbed a slice of pizza and glass of wine in a near-empty wine garden, greeting other early arrivals with a camaraderie that can only come through a shared pizza experience.

*sniffle*

I'm not sure a brat or nachos is going to cut it. And I have absolutely zero confidence anyone can prepare anything "gourmet" from a typical CO setup, as they are overrun with 1000+ hungry cyclists frantically avoiding salmon night in the food tent.

Next week will tell the tale.

I'm going to miss that "FREE PIZZA" scream they did at the end of the night, to which us "cheapies" would sprint over to their table for a pre bedtime snack.
