kickstands -any reccomendations?

Postby park8247 » Tue Jul 07, 2015 5:21 am

Anyone have a reccomendation for a lightweight kickstand for keeping the cycle upright when there are no suitable areas to lean it up against? I was looking for something that is not permenantly attached, something I could possibly carry with me. I have never done cycle oregon or any big ride like this and I am wondering where does everyone leave their bikes while in camp? I am assuming near their tent, but I really dont want to lay it on the ground. Two bikes can lean against each other I suppose.

While I am at it with questions, are bike locks reccomended or even needed?

Thanks for any replies.

i don't think you'll need a lock in camp, maybe if you ride into town but I've never seen the need for one. As far as a kickstand, Cycle Oregon has areas set up you hang your bike from the seat or just lean it against your tent or chair.

Locks in camp are not really needed. Towns, maybe but we often just keep an eye on them etc. But not a bad idea.

Kickstand not needed in camp but could be good at the rest stops throughout the day if you don't mind hauling a little extra weight.
